Decolorization and degradation of Azo dye - Remazol Black B by newly isolated Pseudomonas putida

Nowadays, water pollution has become a matter of great concern in our society. Most of the water pollutions are related to the industrial effluents. Textile industry is the one of the most important industry in all over world and this industry uses large volumes of water in wet processing operations and thereby, generates substantial quantities of wastewater containing large amounts of dissolve...

Biodegradation of azo dye compounds

Azo dyes are one of the oldest industrially synthesized organic compounds characterized by presence of Azo bond (-N=N-) and are widely utilized as coloring agents in textile, leather, cosmetic, paint, plastic, paper, and food industries During textile processing, inefficiencies in dyeing result in large amounts of the dyestuff (varying from 2% loss when using basic dyes to a 50% loss when certa...

Optimization for decolorization of azo dye Remazol Black B by a Halomonas strain using the Taguchi approach

Halophilic and halotolerant microorganisms are good candidates for decolorization of azo dyeswhich are routinely used in the dyeing process in textile industries. In this paper, theoptimization of biological decolorization of synthetic dye solutions containing Remazol Black Bby the previously isolated halophilic bacterium Halomonas sp. D2 is investigated. In a primaryinvestigation using a one-f...

Aerobic biodegradation of azo dye Acid Black-24 by Bacillus halodurans.

Bacillus halodurans MTCC 865 was employed for decolorization of textile azo dye, Acid Black-24 (AB-24). Thousand mgl⁻¹ of AB-24 was decolorized with 90% efficiency by the strain within 6 hrs at pH 9 and 37 °C with 5% NaCl under static conditions in screening medium. Decolorization was evaluated by measuring the periodic decrease in absorbance at 557 nm (λ(max)). Biodegradation of Acid Black-24 ...
